Coach Flip Naumburg's Journal
Saturday, October 1, 2005
I do not want saying it out loud to ruin or jinx it, but we have had mostly lovely days
here in the Fort this fall so far. Today is no exception. It is a day with weather conditions
befitting Santa Barbara (perfect), but we arent in California yet. Today it is BYU
at home a few short hours from now.
BYU lacrosse is fresh off a victory over C.U. in Boulder yesterday. My second hand information
told me it was 8-5 for the Cougars. It sounds like old times, business as usual. My hope
is that things arent the same as they ever was. I certainly dont want to play
games where WE only score in single digits. Its fine for the other team.
I dont care if it is fall and we dont really have an actual attack lineup at
all, much less one that I am comfortable with. In any event any final score showing us with
less than 10 goals scored in a game simply will not do.
No matter how we do today, we will have a point of departure, a particular place of reference.
This fact will help keep my mind off the things that I detest and on the things that need
to be focused upon. I do love coaching. Yes, I have been a little testy this week, and I
am nervous about how we will perform. Where would you rather be?
