COLORADO STATE MENS LACROSSE
April 14, 2002
Colorado State Uses Twelve Unanswered Goals to Handle
Utah
After a relatively slow start, the Colorado State lacrosse
team reeled off
twelve straight goals, holding the visiting Utah Utes scoreless for
almost
thirty minutes in a 19-3 victory. Attackmen Nick Stanitz-Harper (5 goals),
Mike Napolilli (2g, 5a), and Ryan Davis (3g, 1a) were simply too much
for
the Utah defense as they combined for sixteen points. Defenseman Mark
Plonkey (1g, 1a) was superb both on face-offs and on the defensive end
of
things for the Rams who moved their record to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in
the RMILL.
Midfielders Kale Nelson (1g, 3a), Jim Hasson (2g) and
Tim Farquhar (2g) were
all healthy contributors in a complete team effort. For the game, the
Rams
out shot the Utes 47-15. Utah goalie Greg Cullis made eight saves while
Colorado States Alex Smith (8 saves, 3 goals against), Kevin Krcek
(2 svs,
0 ga) and Paul Aubrecht (2 svs, 0 ga) combined for twelve.
