#2 Colorado State Downs Mines 25-3
On an unseasonably warm afternoon in Fort Collins,
CO, the #2 ranked
Colorado State mens lacrosse team kicked off the season in style
with a
25-3 thumping of the Colorado School of Mines. The Rams regulars
were
pulled after a quarter, but not before peppering the Mines net and staking
claim to a 9-0 lead after one. From then on, the Rams emptied the bench
and
cruised, not allowing a goal until 7:53 into the third.
Leading the charge for the Rams (1-0) offensively
were Ryan Davis (5 goals,
1 assist) and Mike Napolilli (3g, 2a). Thanks to freshman Dave Clarks
face-off dominance (21 attempts, 15 wins), CSU was able to control the
ball
for much of the game and never let Mines into the game. Several players
who
will redshirt this season also scored in the complete team effort, including
Jeff Sutherland (3g, 1a).
Next up for CSU is a non-league game with #12 Colorado
in Boulder on Wednesday.
