CSU  11,  ARIZONA  8

On a day that faired better weather wise than one might have thought possible only hours earlier when the flakes were beginning to fall we (CSU Rams) weathered a strong challenge from the Arizona Wildcats and came away with an 11-8 victory.

In contrast to recent games the other team (U of A) got off quickly this time and it was 2-0 and then 3-1 for the Cats before you could say, “Howdy”.  We came back and led I think 5-3 after one quarter of play.  We got one with just 13 seconds to go in the half after the Cats cut it to 6-5 and we took a 7-5 lead at the break.

After that the game stayed in that range of them trailing us by a few, although I think the Cats tied it at 7-7 at one point early in the third quarter. I guess the halftime speech still needs more work.

HURT ME

We are dangerously shallow in certain positions with injuries.  I suppose everyone is by this time of the year, but I can never remember so many ‘untimely’ sorts of maladies as this year has brought, and that makes momentum sometimes an uphill climb at a time when you want to be creating a downhill roll.  Ah, well, that just is the way it is.

We came out with a very low amount of emotion and truthfully right now I worry that I am not able to motivate and excite this team to the degree I would like.  I want them to feel exalted in the moment if that is a possibility.  I want to help them to play beyond themselves and I don’t seem to be able to bring that about just now for whatever reason. I want to help us bring our highest hopes and capabilities for the game with BYU in less than 48 hours..

READY FREDDY?

They (BYU) are playing well and have all their horses healthy.

I really want to fuel the fire now for Saturday.  We will have to play at a very high level, and if we do and stay in the fray anything can happen.  I want to get our ducks in a row as it were.  We need a happy fearless band of brothers.

I have already watched some tape and have a few ideas for the Cougar game.  No time like the present!

I don’t have the stats yet from this game.  Hopefully I will have some time to put more in from the U of A game before the BYU thing happens.
