HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

I have lived a full 54 years as of today, my birthday. It has been noted already this morning on a well wishing recorded birthday voice message from a friend who is much younger than I that "I am getting up there." The truth is that I am not getting up there, I am already up there (old). Anyway I don’t feel a day over 60 or so, and of course, you are indeed as young as you feel.

MY CONGA LINE OF PAIN

No, seriously, I feel pretty good mentally and emotionally these days, but also more or less like I am falling to pieces physically. Last week I had another oral surgery for the long and ongoing process of my dental implants. The pain from that barely registered on my swollen jaw until much later in the week. That is because of a few other aches and injuries that rudely pushed right up to the front of the pain priority line. One might say I have had pain on the brain lately, and it has been difficult for me to ignore, even with the conga line of prescription pill bottles that are present in my pantry.

ROCK ME, ROLL ME

Maybe it is just a biorhythm thing and my body will be back in tune with my mind and spirit soon. Of course by that time I will likely be behaving like a psychotic or feeling brain dead numb.

The age of fifty-four is not sounding so old anymore now that I am that actual age. My sister remains a lot (4 years) older than I, no matter how many of these things I have, so I got that going for me. I don’t have the time right now for a celebration of my senility, so tonight we will have a TEAM dinner at Panino’s, our local ‘club house’ or ‘home’ restaurant. That will have to do for the happy birthday dinner thing. We like to have these food gatherings before big games.

BACK TO OUR BUSINESS

This Saturday we begin a stretch of playing 3 ranked teams and opponents over the next seven days, a serious challenge. We will be in a few field fights over these next days, and that will be somewhat different and refreshing. The last couple of games have not tested much of our skill level or for that matter our character elements.

We have never played Oakland University from Michigan, so that will be fun and a new experience tomorrow. It’s snowing right now, so the recently arrived 17th ranked Grizzlies should feel right at home.

I remember being in Detroit a few years ago in APRIL around this date, and it was so cold and snowing so hard that I practically died of exposure walking basically across the street from our hotel to the local Bennigan’s or whatever. While trudging through the Siberian conditions inside the urban setting that night I was yelling at myself for not having driven.

Tomorrow is also supposed to be nice weather, and my hope is that is truth. I don’t have the back-up plan in place as far as a place to play goes.
