NEW and IMPROVED!
At Rock-it Pocket Lacrosse we have been working on and now are getting ready to launch our
updated, new look. We will hopefully deliver an improved content rock-itpocket.com web site.
I have been writing and rewriting lots of text for that, and with my two-finger non-magic
on the keyboard it has taken quite a bit of time.
With my writing energy having been locked into the Rock-it Pocket side of things lately,
I apologize, dear diary, and it is not my intention for you to be the "other woman"
as it were.
BUGS IN RUG, OR PIGS IN A BLANKET?
On this Internet side of my life it is my hope that somehow our little lacrosse "empire"
will become more unified as time goes by. My three sites are already family, connected by
lacrosse. I like the possibility of having the three sites "we" have "control"
over, Rock-it Pocket dot com, Vail Lacrosse Shootout dot com, and CSU Lacrosse dot com to
be consolidated on a very close cyber level, cyber brothers.
THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
I guess I see the good parts of the Internet (information available for free) and the bad
(freedom to charge any amount or force bad words and or ads on people who may be offended)
in many ways as part of the same thing. Many times the stuff that "pops up" on
the computer screen is kind of ugly.
In some ways I see the Internet as the last bastion of true freedom. I love it. It is the
first amendment at work. In other ways it seems like the ultimate commercial "whore"
gone wild. Certain things inside cyber space are thoroughly out of control. I think everyone
that has a computer sees some of that.
EARTH, WIND, AND FIRE
It is easy for anyone, I suppose, to hate all that Spam flying around the daily incoming
mailbox. It sure is for me. I do have junk filters now, and once they kicked in I quickly
remembered how boring and not that popular I am. I was no longer reading 80 emails a day.
Its much more manageable or less annoying with JUNK filters on the job.
AND IN THE END THE LOVE YOU TAKE IS EQUAL TO THE LOVE YOU MAKE
The hope is that our three DOT COMS can in some small way always contribute to the growth,
color, or spectrum of each other and the game of lacrosse. We will offer up lots of philosophy
and product reviews on our web pages with some fundamental expertise and data thrown in
for lacrosse enthusiasts to peruse.
It is and will always be free information that is being offered if it is coming from us,
and of course we will always use disclaimers whenever appropriate. We certainly wouldnt
want to ever try to express anyone elses opinion.
FEAR AND LOATHING WHILE WEB SURFING
In general I fear being on or near some kinds of web sites lest they snatch me up, and download
my screen as if capturing and tossing me into some sort of alien space ship. I loath the
being transported via obsessive popupping, taken to a realm or web where I do not wish to
be and cant extricate myself from, a web site filled with lies, viruses and deceit.
Surfing can get you more than wet. Being on a web site that is too aggressive makes me more
nervous than being in shark infested waters a few weeks ago did.
I never open attachments to email messages that have been mailed to me unless I know where
they came from.
KNOW THE TRUTH AND THEN USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
The fact that cyber space is more or less without a higher legislative authority for the
most part makes many of the questions about it remain ambiguous, which in turn doesnt
really help to find the clear answers for how we as humans should best use this wondrous
technological marvel.
The masses are well along into the times of Cyber now. There are many unresolved issues
with that Internet thing we now find ourselves living with, using for multiple taks, and
taking for granted daily. I guess my question is if we as a species might have misplaced
a "missing link" from somewhere along the evolutionary timeline during this whole
cyber revolution, and will it come back later and bite us in the you-know-what?
I guess for me and the net it remains best to "Know the truth, and then know what to
do with it".
FOUR SCORE AND......
The first amendment seems more a privilege to me now, rather than just simply a human right
that should be automatically protected for any idiot with a mouth. I am, however, a first
amendment guy to the core when all is said and done and when push comes to shove.
