While family and team play is a big part of the focus here at Ram Camp, we understand the
importance of individual skills as well. The camp will feature “mini-camps”
for several different types of players, whether they are goaltenders, face-off specialists
or anything in between.
In 2005 we had our first “Goalie Clinic” as a sub-camp. It was chiefly
run byPete Jokisch (CSU ‘06) and there were 8 or 10 goalies at the camp, which made
the goalie clinics lively and competitive. Pete had the goalies doing physical routines
and he had ratings for them and suggestions to improve their game to take home with them.
In 2006 we plan to add a face-off clinic to our specialty skills list, and we will offer
special “tutored” sessions to anyone who wants some extra time working on a
particular skill.
COMPETITION / FASTEST SHOT, ETC.
We like to have as many ways for the players to compete as possible. Competition
makes it fun for the kids, and it also increases the learning curve for a player.
Rock-it Pocket steps up and there are lots of individual prizes given out. We have
giveaways and competitions for prizes throughout the four days of camp.
OFF THE FIELD ACTIVITIES
The Ram Camp has plenty for campers to do off the field as well. Whether it’s
stocking up on gear from the Rock-it Pocket Camp Store, swimming or playing basketball in
the Student Rec Center, or just getting some shut-eye during a tiring day, there will be
no shortage of activities for campers. |
