In the shadow of Mount Rainier, the Colorado State Rams played
their first ever game in the state of Washington against the Pacific
Lutheran Lutes. The Rams got the entire roster in the game in the first
half and cruised to an easy 24-4 win against a hard-fighting Pacific
Lutheran squad. Sixteen Rams got in the scoring column as Colorado State
reached the halfway point of their arduous Spring Break trip 3-0.
CSU dominated the statistical battle, outshooting the Lutes 56-19 and
picking up 70 groundballs to PLU’s 25. But the biggest discrepancy came at
the face-off ‘x,’ where CSU gathered up 26/30 draws.
Kelten Johnson (Bainbridge HS, WA) continued to score a high volume of
points by notching three goals and three assists to lead all game scorers.
Four different Rams registered hat-tricks, including Johnson, Matt Disney
(Heritage HS, CO), Nick Stanitz-Harper (Eaglecrest HS, CO) and Tim Farquhar
(Collegiate HS, VA).
Pacific Lutheran was clearly outmatched, but the Lutes fought hard
throughout. PLU was flagged for 11 penalties while CSU committed 6 fouls.
CSU led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter and 11-3 at halftime on their
way to victory. Next up for the 9-0 Rams is a game against a ranked
opponent on Thursday. The Rams will play the #20 Chico State Wildcats.
