CSU  24 -  SIMON FRASER  6

SEAMLESS IN SEATTLE

This CSU team showed its ability to finish that which they start by pounding SFU earlier tonight 24-6 in our final game of the Husky Invitational, which was held inside the Dempsey Center on the campus of the University of Washington.  They (SFU) have a good team.  They do not suck.  We stood up and played strong, as if we hadn't played a game in the last week. Only the still wet sweat on several of our green jerseys from last night's Husky affair gave us away.  Other than how those must have smelled we seemed as fresh as a daisy.

The game tonight was long and it was ugly.  The air was filled with flags and unsportsmanlike chatter.  There were 10 such unsportsmanlike calls between the two teams.  The refs seemed very excited about being a big part of the day's activities, and it was probably good that they were.  It was a regular three-ring circus out there, a game waiting to get out of control in terms of what I might consider desired intercollegiate student athlete behavior.

Oh, by the way, in those moments when some lacrosse was actually being played, we were at times awesome.  We just slowly and methodically dominated the proceedings with our movement.  We constantly broke them down when we had the ball on offense.  We moved the ball, we moved without the ball, and we took a lot of good quality shots. When the Clan had the ball we attacked it.

SPAWN AND LIVE

I believe that going 6-0 on this 9-day odyssey is a worthy and valuable team accomplishment.  We stacked the cards against ourselves for almost every game by the way I scheduled it.  We always seem to have to swim upstream to get where we want to be, and they (the players) once again never flinched.  This is a good character trait for a team to have.  I am very proud that we can spend ten days straight together, have fun, and accomplish some things that will breath more life into us, an us that is already a fairly vibrant happening.

The Birds flew in some pizza for the team after the game tonight (I'm sorry, I can't help myself with the whole Bird thing), and we are so fortunate to have all these families to feed us and travel with us while we are out on the country.

HOMEWARD BOUND

Now, it's time to go home.
