PIKES PEAK OR BUST

We are here in Colorado Springs for the big two-game weekend.  Some, including me, came down early to watch the Colorado College Tigers manhandle the Aggies from Texas A&M earlier this afternoon.  We left to check into the hotel before the game was over, but I saw plenty.  I don't often get to watch two teams we are about to play, and sometimes when I do have the chance I still won't.   I often don't want or like too much information.  Today, however, given the opportunity, and for some reason I'm not quite sure of, I was eager to come down early for a look, and to get a feel for both teams.  I think part of this might be due to my high level of desire to immerse myself in this season and this year's coaching experience.  I love this team, plain and simple.  I am not getting younger, also plain and simple.  I don't want to miss a minute of it. Somehow everything seems immediate and relevant to me right now, like springtime its own self.  I am not interested in April just yet.  I want to be right here, right now, physically and philosophically, and even if it is still just February, and lacrosse is technically a spring sport.

TIM BODDINGTON, WHERE ARE YOU NOW?

It was nice to see that those good old CC fans (students) haven't changed in 30 years.  There is always a small group of like 25-30 dedicated student-fans at the college.  This group would appear as if they do the majority of all drinking and heckling done on campus, and in fact act like they had invented the concoction that mixes alcohol with razz.  Unlike games at CSU, the fans here don't need to hide the whiskey flask.  I think these student/drunks travel as a pack, going from one event to the next.  Hockey, lacrosse, debating, it's all the same.  It gets to a point where they don't seem to care who they heckle as long as they can heckle somebody.  That's my alma mater.  I'm sure they will be calling me by name on Sunday.  I'll be interested to see how many come out if it snows.  I still enjoy being heckled by the way.

We will meet at 9:00 tonight and talk about the game tomorrow.  I hope it stays nice enough to have a 9:00 practice in the morning.   The weather has been nice, but they say it's about to turn, which would add a little extra drama to the festivities.  I am really anxious to see how we stack up in these games.  We will know a lot more about where we really are about 44 hours from now.
