SHUT MY MOUTH
I know I have used this TITLE before, and probably several times

So I wrote all this gushy stuff in here the other day about how well we were preparing, and how good it felt and all that. Then they (team) proceeded to come out and have the audacity to look ordinary and uninspired (hung over), and practice was pretty ugly yesterday. Perhaps it was because Plonkey (#17) was not present. He was at a special "class". I hope this was not the reason it looked so not like us, or else I could be in for a very long the-rest-of-my-coaching-life real soon. It was a practice reminiscent of what was once called, "Friday Funday" from an era gone by. I can always hope those days are gone anyway, because they were often torture for me. For years I have been trying to kill that little CSU tradition with a big stick.

Apparently Thursday is still a very good night to go out in the "Fort". This does not fit well with our schedule, which includes numerous games on Friday. Timmy, can you hear me?

I assured them all that it would be a while before the next wave of rave reviews would be pouring in, and speaking of the weather, it's snowing, big flakes.

GOD’S QUARTERBACK

I learned two cool facts just now. First, I popped in on ESPN TV and saw the press conference announcing the election of John Elway as a first rounder (unanimous) to the NFL Hall of Fame. I am certain that "Biff", as we used to call him, has always been a #1 pick, ever since the first time they chose up sides in street ball when he was a boy on the old cul de sac in So. Cal. Why would this be any different?

TALK RADIO

The second factual bit of tid would have to fall into the really cool category. ESPN radio in Denver had an interview this morning with John Gavin, the CU coach, and me (CSU Coach) in a conference call kind of sports chat show format, and we were talking about the big and historic box lacrosse showdown that will take place between the two schools inside the big, round Pepsi "Can" three weeks from tomorrow. It was all very amusing and I’m sure I sounded a bit like a nut for my part, but darn it, sometimes I feel like a nut. Anyway, the fresh factoid that I got from the last "sound bite" from our spot was, and this is according to Steve Govett the Mammoth GM, We (CSU) have sold more than 500 tickets on line so far in about one week’s time, and They (CU) have sold 3. Now, that's what I'm talk radioing about. That's a nice little $2000 spit into the money pit that is our program, and let's see, that's $12 for the Buffs.

I didn’t even get to rant on the radio about how we had a few specific indoor practices as a box team before Christmas, etc. and etc. Oh well, less is more I guess. At least I don’t think I said the same thing five times while trying to answer five different questions. I’m quite sure of that.

Carolina fans take heart! Annual Super Bowl prediction: New England 31 -- Carolina 13.
