GAME #11 #3 CSU 6 #1 Sonoma State U. 5
We are now 9-2
TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE
There must be a Country Western song (the only two kinds of music) that fits the last month of my life. I hate the music and I hated the month. I sure can make a mess in a hurry. Perhaps some day I will decipher the importance of what all has transpired in this month from hell, but sometime yesterday I decided to focus on something more immediate, like the present. I finally saw a glimpse of the present and I jumped all over it. I had spent weeks in the past, hoping for a do-over, I suppose, but that isnt me, and sooner or later I knew it would be time for the present. The "bottom line" is that today was indeed a first day, and I am glad to be back coaching again after a weeks absence (that doesnt count all that other non-practice time we have had).
Im pretty sure that I never made as many radical changes the day before a game before, let alone for a game of this magnitude. They all didnt work, but they sure got my juices flowing, and we figured out what was working as the game went on. We rode extremely well. Sonoma has good sticks up and down, but we made them work to get the ball on offense all day.
THESE 6-5 THINGS ARE GOING TO KILL ME
I love holding the other team to 5 and 6 goals a game. I never thought that we would score less than 10 every game, too. We rebuild the offense and the man up team almost daily, mostly due to injuries. I am all but drawing up plays in the dirt. I have to figure out where to get more goals on offense. Sonoma didnt give us many fast breaks. There was a lot of 6 on 6 (settled offense) played today. Both teams attacked, though. It was a really well-played game overall, hard fought and even. We hung tough, though, we did not just hang on. I am sure I will have more to say later, but I just wanted to get something on line..
