I NEVER KNOW WHEN TO SAY WHEN
We are unable to play Boise State anywhere in Northern Colorado this weekend. This makes 6 games that we have not played due to weather issues. Still, I plan the next move.
Sunday we will make up the one we were supposed to play March 1 at CC. So, we will head south once again tomorrow for a small road trip to Colorado Springs. We will spend the night and try to get one or two practices at CC before the game at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The snow is gone down there.
I am very hopeful that we can get some fannage out there in Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon. Those CC people really know how to "trash", so for once I want our alumni out in full force instead of hoping for only a few at a time. I heard Ferrin was challenging the "old" players to show up for this one. I hope they answer the call. The 3:00 pm start should help them.
CC GAME PLAN
Run! I want us to do everything at a fast pace and at a high level during the game. Seems simple as Simon, but the uncomplicated things often take the most concentration and intensity. I know CC has good defenders and they will attack us in a few different ways when we have the ball. We must be ready to play a team with a higher level of team skill than we have seen in a while. Thats where the fun is anyway.
I want and expect us to find the pace where WE run the best on Sunday. If we do that we will improve as the game unfolds. We must get right into the game early on, though, and that will be the challenge. This will be a test unlike anything we have had lately.
I want to break the other teams offensive pattern down, whatever it might be, with intense and clever defense. The more we communicate, the less "rusty" we will be. We must keep them out of that one part of our "house" in spite of having had no practice at all. I want to knock them down if they shoot, and I want us to hustle every minute, and fight for every loose ball.
We must play with the hunger and excitement that can only come from the extraordinary amount of lacrosse abstinence that we have endured.
