Our game with UNC today was postponed until next Tuesday due to snow.
I dont know how to condition a team to play without playing. I feel like I can fix a lot of things, but its definitely easier when you can see what needs fixing. I am literally trying to get people to simply try and visualize a bigger picture because we dont have a place or a way to remotely simulate lacrosse game conditions. I guess I hope that we will get going each game as each game gets going. As we settle into the speed of the game situations things will start to mesh. In the beginning of the games we will need to really prepare ourselves mentally to make up for how much we lose physically, at least until we get in the game.
No matter how much practice we get between now and Saturday, I want us to play with confidence and patience. I want us to focus on clueing in to how the game is being played, how its being officiated, and things like that. We must read and react much better than we have lately.
The news is grim on the injury front as Timmy will be lost for at least 6 weeks, which seems like forever right now. Joes news is even worse as he will be gone for the season. Our depth on midfield will now be tested in a way none of us could have imagined in Vegas when we were rolling in middies. We were never that deep with long poles for some reason, and now we are looking at just having enough day to day. I had hoped that our defense would be extremely solid while our brand new attack had time to develop. Now our defense must be revamped while it is clear that our offense must stand up and be a big part of our strength right now. We do not have time to wait on production. We must find a way to produce now. This team understands teamwork. We must build from the inside out.
It is likely we will have only two indoor night practices this week. Weve already had more chalk talks than practice. Im off to our 9:00 session now.
